Waukesha County Recycling Education and Outreach Event

Waukesha (WI) – June 11, 2012 –   Last year Waukesha County residents recycled over 21,600 tons of materials which generated shared revenue of $1.2 million for the 25 partnering communities.  Currently, Waukesha County residents recycle about 24% of the waste generated.

“Markets are strong for paper, bottles, and cans and we want to help residents increase recycling to conserve natural resources, create jobs, and generate revenue for communities,” stated Karen Fielder, Waukesha County Recycling and Solid Waste Supervisor.

Waukesha County Recycling and Solid Waste staff will be available to help residents stay informed and recycle more.  On Saturday June 23rd from 11:00a.m. – 1:00p.m., residents can visit recycling staff at Retzer Nature Center (S14 W28167 Madison Street, Waukesha) to ask questions, pick up information, get a free blue recycling bin (while supplies last), and learn how to increase recycling rates!
